Using the internet to create a large passive income stream is a great idea; however, many people go into it without any forethought or research. As a result, they usually end up failing at the first hurdle. One of the major reasons for failing to make the grade on the internet is that too many people start off by selling products in a market that is totally saturated.
The reason why they enter such markets is simply due to a lack of initial research. As a result, people usually fall foul. This is a very important lesson so please take note as it will help you to start, and grow, a highly successful internet business.
The type of information product that you create is crucial to your success. Many people want to create a product that they 'think' there is a large market for. Whilst they are probably correct in their assumptions, there is one key element that they forget to consider - the competition.
Let me give you an example:
Millions of people want to know 'how to stop smoking' or 'how to lose weight' and they will search for products on the internet only to find an unbelievable array of products and services.
To prove this point, go into Google now and type in the phrase 'How to lose weight' or 'How to stop smoking' and you will see that there are lots of competitors who are offering you products and services relating to these subjects - avoid these markets like the plague! You will make little or no money.
The key to success is researching markets on the internet to find out what people want, and which products there is little or no competition. Once you find these niche markets you are beginning to tap into the unfound gold mines, and there are literally thousands out there!
Why the internet?
Whilst the internet is not the only place you can sell your product it is a very powerful marketplace that is still on the increase. More and more people are turning to the internet each day to buy products, and also to find out information about specific subjects, and this is great news for you! By all means try to sell your product, once completed, through other sales avenues but please believe me when I say that it is the fastest way to see a return on your investment (ROI).
In order to prove my theory, let me ask you a question. When was the last time you ehard of an internet business go bust? In my 6 years of trading on the internet I cannot think of any internet business that has gone to the wire. The main reasons for this are as follows:
- You do not need lots of staff to run an inernet business. I was turning over £500,000 per year from my cellar!
- You do not need large flash offices to run an internet business. I started off from my cellar and now run my business from a very small 15m3 office.
- You can grow your business slowly without having to spend large sums of money through advertising.
Starting an inernet business is a great choice to make, but be very careful about the types of product you choose to sell. Aim for niche market products and you will not go too far wrong!
